Maths Whizz - Making our time count!

At the start of Term 2, Ms. Tapuke told us we need to get better at using Maths Whizz. She showed us a video to help us learn about the idea of Return on Investment. We found out that we need to use our time wisely to get the best results!

Our goal is to  get 4 progressions in one week! Guess what? One of our classmates, Josh made a huge improvement - in just the first week back he made 7 progressions!

Check out the video and get busy with Maths Whizz!

Ukulele Group - Fiafia 2018

Not long to go now until Fiafia 2018 - Whaea Haara and Ms. Hockley have been helping us out each week to practise our ukulele songs. We meet 1-2 times a week but our lessons always end too quickly! We lined up outside on the field like it will be in Fiafia night on the stage - we all have to remember where to stand!

Come down to Pt England School next week on the 12th April and check out everyone's Fiafia performance

BLOG OF THE WEEK: ANGEL - Attitude Talk

Check out Angel's blog post about Tony from Attitude who came to speak to Team 5 students.
Today we had a guest come into team 5 and tell us about things we need to know.

My favourite part about the attitude talk is which animal am I?Like what kind of attitude do you show in class like are you a entertainer which is a otter.Or are you a lion a director,A Golden Retriever  is a peace maker last of all a beaver which is the facilitator. I reckon I will be a lion because sometimes I  will direct people around especially to my siblings.

What should we do when were doing dumb things. We should dump our dumb ideas and focus on good things not going around the class and being a clown that's how you don't get anywhere in life. When were doing dumb things we could get over board and try and do something very bad so that's the reason why we should dump our dumb ideas.

Try new things? When your in a group and there's something new going on try it out.You would probably get use to it for a couple of mins trying new things out is great it could help you with your learning. If you don't try new things out that will be kind of boring because your just gonna stick to the things you know and that's dumb I reckon we should try out new things.

these are my three points about how tony had talked to us about our attitude and all sorts of things like What animal am I,who am I,am I normal, all those kinds of things I reckon the attitude talk is important to me because I wouldn't know which animal I will when I grow up in the future.

2018 Garage Sale - Fundraiser for Year 8 Camp

As part of our fundraising for Year 8 camp, Team 5 have their annual garage sale and this year we had it on Saturday 24th March. What a beautiful day it turned out to be with students turning up at 7.30am to help put their stalls together.

We had a long table filled with deliciously home made cakes, pineapple pies, cup cakes, muffins, cookies and some wonderfully made otai to quench the thirst. A candy floss stand was also a favourite for the kids. Parents got to enjoy some yummy seafood chowder made by Roz while our students were being great sales reps at the cheese toasties and hot dogs dogs.

It was great to see Josephine Bartley and Mrs Tele'a join us along with our Pt England babies.

We could go on and on but take a look at our video below to see more of our fun filled day.

A huge THANK YOU to our Pt England families and the wider community for coming down and supporting our students in their fundraising efforts.

We raised $1700!!! This is absolutely fantastic and will go towards our Year 8 Camp in Thames Valley.

What does 'good' group work in Maths look like?

In Maths this week we had fun finding out what 'good' group work looked like. In groups of four, we had to figure out what we needed to do to make sure everyone took part to complete a task successfully. Check out the photos and comments below:
