GOOGLE Student Summit 2017
Today the Year 7 & 8 Extension group went to Ormiston Junior College for the GEGNZ Student Summit 2017. We went arrived in two groups which were P.E.N.N Team and The Scratch Team. Registration was the first place we went and were handed lanyards to put on.
( PS: I was apart of the PENN Team)
The GEGNZ Student Summit was attended by over 400 students from : Ormiston Primary, Ormiston College, Tamaki College, Stonefields School, Bucklands Beach School and many other schools. We went to many presentations and workshops where taught different things from different schools.
The P.E.N.N Team was the first to go back after the introduction in the Auditorium. Two groups of schools came to our Presentation were Holy Cross and Ormiston Primary School. After presenting, We let the school make their own NewsTo be honest when we were trying to pick workshops to go to, it was tough because most of the workshops required ipads which didn't have.
To Reflect upon the day, I have to say it was pretty fascinating seeing how technology has improved and has become part of our daily lives. What I learned from the trip to GEGNZ was how to use a program called Teleorgami. It's a app where you can record yourself saying something, and it has a avatar replaying

Cook Islands Language Week/Te epetoma o te reo Māori Kuki Airani
This year's theme is`Ei rāvenga nāku i te tuatua i tōku reo Māori Kūki ’Āirani ka anoano au i te turuturu ā tōku ngutu`are tangata `ē te matakeinanga. An encouraging home and community environment is what I need to build my love and my confidence to speak my reo Māori Kūki ’Āirani.'
We are so very proud of our year 7 & 8 students who took the lead in preparing this beautiful range of items. They gave up every lunch time to practice together for our Friday school assembly. A huge thank you to Mrs Lagitupu and Roimata's mum, Puna, who helped all week long. You are awesome!
Watch and find out for yourself how proud our students are of the Cook Island culture and language. Meitaki Maata tamariki
