2019 Year 8 Leadership Camp
Last month, the Year 8 students from Pt England School headed off for 3 days and 2 nights to Kauaeranga Christian Camp in Thames. It was an awesome chance for them to step away from their usual school life and take on new challenges and experiences in an unfamiliar environment together with their classmates. Check out Part 2 of their time way in this short movie that screened on PENN (Pt England News Network) today. Enjoy!

Vodafone Warriors - Healthy Living!
Wow what a great way to spend our Monday afternoon! The team sent to teach us all about healthy living were awesome!
We had a team of 4 Vodafone Warriors lead us through a very informative session. The headings of the 3 areas they covered were: Nutrition, Sleep and Hydration. Three very important parts of our daily life. If we do a good job looking after what and when we eat, drink and sleep we will be in top shape for our learning and more!
The style of teaching used quick fun quizzes after every short talk on these areas. Chanting our team names was the way we identified which group would answer first. 'Warriors' and 'Nate is the best' were the two chants.
No doubt Team 5 will swing into gear to tell you more detail about our great afternoon with the Vodafone Warriors here at Pt England School.
Special thanks to Tohu Harris, Nathaniel Roache and...can you name the rest of the team. Leave their names in the comments section to win a prize!

Year 8 Leadership Camp 2017
Y8 Leadership 2017 from SchoolTV on Vimeo.
From Mrs Tele'a!
Here's some pics we captured while away on our leadership camp this year! Wednesday 26th - Friday 28th May. Our group was slightly smaller this time around but still jam packed with a lot of fun and learning opportunities! We had a range of workshops where our students had to step and out as leaders and active team members.
Key phrases like 'Build up, positive self talk, service to leadership 'O le ala i le pule o le tautua', show support and we kept a focus on. Why do we have camp? Naturally as year 8 students there is an expectation that students will step up and lead. This camp is to support our students to do this. You'll all agree the act of leadership and even teamwork is not something all people do naturally, many of us need to shown and taught this! So camp is where we get to do this together without any distractions! The building of self confidence to stand, speak and participate was developed during camp. We took part in - leading groups around rotations, taking charge in team challenges, and showing 'kaha' when we needed to be brave. Being the hosts even during our meal times was a job all teams carried out which included prayers in all our various languages, songs and chants that always made meal time so enjoyable!
We have video that we are currently editing so you can see for yourself what we've shared here. A big shout out to all the year 8 students, their whanau, teachers for the great support you gave. We are very thankful!
