Year 8 Graduation

Last night was a special night for our Year 8 students as they took the stage to celebrate and mark their final days Pt England School. Angel and Tom did the honours to introduce Ms. Tapuke as their home class teacher - a special moment for her because this group were her first EVER class of students she has had for a full two years. She will always have special memories of them.

Congratulations to Andrew, Kerstein, Aneelis, Sabrina, Angel, Sheales, Benioni, Syriah, Tom, Vili and Hone - look out Year 9 in 2019, here they come!

For those who missed the Senior Prize-giving last week, take the chance to check out the dance moves from our Year 8s in their finest gears - it was a great night for whanau, teachers and especially our graduating students!

2018 - Senior Prizegiving

It's hard to believe that another year has come to an end and last night our Year 8s take the stage for their final prize-giving at Pt England School. The senior kapahaka group, Manaia ki te rangi opened the night with a strong performance and a speech from our principal, Mr Burt. 

Congratulations to all the prize-winners from Room 2 for their efforts this year in class, in giving service to the school and in sports - fantastic achievements!

To end the night, the Year 7s and 8s, covered in lolly leis, got to show off to whanau and teachers, the dance moves they have been working so hard on for the last few weeks!

Not long to go now before the term is over - these Year 8s smiled for the camera with their friends for our Room 2 WALL OF FAME! Look out Year 9 in 2019!

Vodafone Warriors - Healthy Living!

Wow what a great way to spend our Monday afternoon!   The team sent to teach us all about healthy living were awesome!

We had a team of 4 Vodafone Warriors lead us through a very informative session.  The headings of the 3 areas they covered were: Nutrition, Sleep and Hydration.  Three very important parts of our daily life.  If we do a good job looking after what and when we eat, drink and sleep we will be in top shape for our learning and more!

The style of teaching used quick fun quizzes after every short talk on these areas.  Chanting our team names was the way we identified which group would answer first.  'Warriors' and 'Nate is the best' were the two chants.

No doubt Team 5 will swing into gear to tell you more detail about our great afternoon with the Vodafone Warriors here at Pt England School.

Believe in yourself! - Inspire Tour 2018

Covenant Events brings their 'INSPIRE TOUR' to Point England!

It was an awesome time for all our year 7 and 8 students.  Learning valuable lessons for life right now and into the future!

Here are some gems from the show:

• How can we achieve the goals we set ourselves? Have you set yourself a goal?  Do it!
• ASK - don't be afraid to ask for help.  It's the best thing to do when you're stuck. People WANT to help you!   
• BELIEVE IN YOURSELF - having the confidence to give things a go is another key to achieving our goals!

Through play, song and dance Mayo and Levi entertained and taught us.  It's very likely a message we've heard from our own families, teachers and friends, however, it's always good to hear again.  Maybe for some of us we haven't heard it said enough.

Our Year 7 & 8 boys had the privilege of spending some time, up close and personal, with these two talented young men.  They got to have some real talk about being Pasifika, Maori and Kiwi boys who CAN achieve what they want to.

Thank you Levi and Mayo/Covenant Events for this wonderful experience.  No doubt other Manaiakalani schools will be keen to have you visit them too!

Code Club - Lost in Space!

Today was our second session of Code Club - we doubled our members from last week and now have SIX keen new coders! 

This week we tried out a new SCRATCH project called 'Lost in Space' - each student got to use new sprite animated characters and use code to make them move. We made a rocket blast off, change colour and shape and added in a floating monkey astronaut, a twinkling star and a bouncing asteroid.
