School Assembly - ANZAC Day - Lest We Forget

ANZAC Day, the 25th of April is an important date in New Zealand history. It marks the day in 1915 when soldiers from Australia and New Zealand landed at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. This is a special day to remember all the New Zealanders who have served our country in wars in times gone by.

This year, ANZAC Day will be a little different. People will not be able to come together to pay their respects because of the Level 4 COVID19 Lockdown. Instead we are being asked to 'stand together, apart' in your living room or at the end of the driveways and take part in a virtual dawn service.

Pt England School marked this important date with a special assembly that was streamed online.
Check it out below:

Check out this video to see the quote Ms. Tapuke has chosen to share to improve our TAHA WAIRUA. Building Taha Powers - TAHA HINENGARO - Meditation - Ms. Tapuke

Today, Nina's challenge was for Taha Hinengaro to build a healthy mind through meditating. Visit her blog to see her meditation styles - make sure to leave a comment for her.

Ms. Tapuke took on Nina's challenge! First, she set the timer on her phone for 5 minutes and then she practised square breathing.

"The neighbour was doing his lawns so it was hard to block out the noise at first! After a while, I just focussed on my breath and counting to 4 seconds. The five minutes flew by. I think I will try and to this in the mornings. It reminded me a lot of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, where you are moving in time to your breathing."

Need some tips on how to meditate? Check out this video, then try this TAHA HINENGARO challenge. Don't forget to share your experience on your blog.

Easter Learning Journey - New Flag Design - MOHAMMED

Mohammed  took part in the Easter Learning Journey and designed a new flag for New Zealand/Aotearoa. Mohammed's description shows he has given a lot of thought to the colours and the symbols he has used. Let him know what you think of his awesome design. Leave a comment on his blog.

This is a flag that I designed for New Zealand. I chose this colour because it shows that there
is a lot of beautiful green things like trees and grass. Then I chose this flower to show that in
New Zealand there is a lot of love and peace. Also, I chose the white Colour to show there is
peace in New Zealand.
